A bit of nature in Madrid

Madrid is the capital of Spain, and as such there are lots of business and buildings full of concrete, glass and iron. The centre is beautiful, with its mix of modern and old. If you are staying in a hotel in the centre of Madrid you will be able to enjoy all these views as well as being near the train stations and main transport links that will take you around the region.

However, sometimes we do want to take a break and enjoy a quiet walk among greenery or just sitting on a bench taking in the local wild life. You can also do this from the centre of Madrid. Just off Gran Via, in Plaza de España you can enjoy a small garden in the midst of the city’s bustle. In this garden you will find some benches to relax, a fountain, and the most important feature the monument to the great writer Cervantes, with the images of his two famous characters Don Quijote and Sancho Panza.

Around this area, there are also numerous bars and cafés where you can also quench your thirst in summer or drink a warming something in winter. Especially around the street Martín de los Heros, where you will also find a small bookshop dedicated to cinema and two of the main cinemas in the city showing foreign films with subtitles.

After all this exploring, you just need to walk a few minutes and you will be back in your hotel in Gran  Via to enjoy your well deserved rest.
