Restaurants in Huertas, Madrid
Huertas is one of the best known areas in Madrid for night life, and it is literally “night” life, as although most places open at 7, they will be quite empty till about 9 or 10 when the first crowds start forming. However, if you want to see the real vibe of the area you need to go after 10. If you are thinking of eating, there quite a few eateries in the area, and the Spanish suppers are quite late so don’t worry about finding the place and being told the kitchen is closed.
One of the favourite haunts in the area is the vegetarian restaurant Al Natural (the natural way). The dishes are delicious and they tend to vary their menu often. Although simple, you won’t be disappointed with their dishes, they are fantastic. The atmosphere is also very friendly and warm, and you can also buy some of their products in their little shop.
El Caldero de Huertas, in Calle Huertas, 15, is a specialist Spanish restaurant with a menu full of traditional dishes from the Murcia region. You have a good choice of tapas dishes or small bites to share, with Spanish cold meats and traditional flower croquettes. The main menue features a selection of Murcian dishes with a base of rice, fish and meat.
La Cueva de la Gata in Calle Moratín, 11, is a modern cuisine restaurant that offers a variety of dishes adapted to the modern taste, but that will be loved by everybody. They have a menu at a very good price.
